OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE IN SLOVENIA


 

 
HISTORY

 

 


  • nBeginning: 18th century in mercury-mine Idrija (west Slovenia) – the medical and social care for the miners and their families was assured by world famous doctors like Giovanni Antonio Scopoli (1723 – 1788), Balthasar Hacquet (1739 – 1815).

  • nDuring 1963 and 1967 the Dispensaries of occupational medicine were founded to take preventive and active heath care for all the workers in Slovenia.

  • nOn 9th September 1971 the Clinical Institute of Occupational Medicine in Ljubljana was founded.
